Obtain the Correct Ice Box for the Job Required

Warm bubbles in carbonated drinks should now be a thing of the past now that there are so many makes and models of ice boxes on the market. These might be called chilly bins or Eskies, ice boxes or cool boxes, but basically, they carry out similar functions. That is not, of course, to say that if you see one cooler box you have seen them all - that is not it at all, not by a long shot! A quick yardstick to measure the qualities of a cooler box by is the price you pay. There are many very economically priced ice boxes on the market, costing less than AUS $15. Whether these are any good or not can be judged against the reason for buying the box. These cheap cooler boxes are certainly suitable from bringing perishable foods home from the supermarket. It is also fine to bring packs of frozen foods home if you don't live more than an hour's drive or so from where you bought your frozen products.

Going off at a tangent a bit, these cheap ice boxes would be ideal for fishing, to keep your live bait fresh during your fishing trip. Nevertheless, in order to bring any caught fish home in fresh and pristine condition you should get yourself one of the better quality cool boxes. These certainly cost quite a bit more but, considering the ice boxes at the top-end of the market are likely to last you a lifetime, then you would only have to make a single purchase. This would certainly be a cost-effective option, in that case, despite the cost. These really good, top-of-the-range ice boxes can cost from $90 up to $700 or so, depending on the size you need.

Putting this into perspective, even if you paid $700 and frequently used this ice box for 20 years, that is the equivalent of just $35 per year. In other words, very affordable! Of course, there is no point in buying a cooler box in a larger size than you are going to habitually use. The reason you need the correct size is due to the need to pack your ice box properly to ensure the optimum amount of ice is used. The idea is to have at least half of the box volume to be ice. Additionally, you do not want too much of the volume to be unused, containing only air. Optimum conditions are achieved with the ice box no more than half filled with goodies and then topped up to the full level with ice.

Just imagine the feeling of pleasure as you pull out a can of carbonated drink that is still ice-cold, then biting into an apple and enjoying the refreshing taste of cool, juicy flesh? Would you go back to the scenario you had to put up with the previous summer when you went to get your sandwiches and there was a small army of ants crawling up the inside of your lunch pack? At least with the newly purchased, first-class cooler box, you know that no nosy and voracious insect critter is going to be able to squeeze through the heavy-duty gasket sealing the insulated heavy-duty lid. This ice box has many uses, but these have yet to be discovered by you and your family. For now it is enough to be able to enjoy the luxury of an ice-cold drink and food kept fresh and away from the persistent rays of the midday sun.
